A Railroad Crossing Changed Everything
I live in California. My parents and I were biking locally over a railroad crossing a few years ago and I saw lots of plastic garbage. I noticed that there were also many small plastic balls called nurdles.
It turns out that these nurdles are a foundation of the plastic industry and a source of significant environmental waste.
I thought that if apps like DoorDash and Uber can get lots of people to work for them informally, that I could use that power too.
I created an app called Nurdle Turtle that harnesses the gig economy to encourage people to collect plastic waste.
The Discovery
